Mini excavators, also known as small excavating machinery, have varying definitions. For example, in countries where backhoe loaders are popular, 1-3 ton mini excavators are the mainstream.
In countries where backhoe loaders are less common, 4-6 ton models are more preferred.
However, almost all countries tend to purchase larger equipment; therefore, mini excavators are generally defined as 1-6 ton backhoe loaders, with 2.7-3.0 ton models making up a large proportion. This is because they can be easily moved around using common transport vehicles.
Due to their compact size, mini excavators are commonly used in earthmoving projects in urban areas.
